Xavier Bell interned with Scott Robinson Honda and gained experience in accounting and financial reporting.

Why did you choose this internship?

I chose this internship because of my emphasis in Business Administration. One day I hope to run a business of my own and it is essential to know accounting skills in any business.

How has your internship experience influenced your plans for your future?

I now know how important accounting is. Although my internship seemed tedious at times, I learned you must be accurate and precise. There is little to no room for mistake when it comes to accounting, as a simple accounting error can be the demise of an organization. I now know I won’t have future plans for a career in accounting but, overall, I am glad I chose this internship.

What advice do you have for other students as they search for or begin their internship?

I recommend that you use your resources! LinkedIn and Handshake are two great platforms that will definitely ease the stress of finding your internship. When applying, if you don’t meet the recommended degree level but still want the internship, don’t be afraid to apply! First impressions are everything, so if you are required to an interview be on your best behavior. Set a good tone of what you can bring during your time with the company.
