PAH 150A1 - Video Game Sights, Sounds & Stories

Video games present seemingly endless possibilities for exploration and study. In PAH 150A1, we begin to unravel some of that fascinating complexity by learning about how games are made, how they are studied, and how they affect the world. In his Honors project for the course, Abiel Marquez develops a podcast to explore how we even understand what a game is and how players decide what kinds of games they play. His work highlights his excellent writing, editing, and interview skills while also pushing the boundaries of how we understand both what games we play and why we play them.

Abiel Marquez

Electrical & Computer Engineering

My name is Abiel Marquez. I’m from Anchorage, Alaska and currently pursuing a degree in Electrical & Computer Engineering as part of the Class of 2024. I’m not too sure what the future holds (at least not yet), but I am incredibly interested in creating medical and healthcare devices and technologies. Everything from pacemakers to dialysis machines spark my intellectual curiosity. My curiosity stems from actually solving medical issues that doctors and medical professionals can’t always attend to. I believe engineers can save as many lives as doctors can through technology. Outside of school, I enjoy making music, thrift shopping, and watching mystery shows.
