Madilynn Melodia interned with the College of Humanities and gained experience in college recruitment and retention.

What was the focus of your internship?

The College of Humanities Student Ambassador program focuses on student outreach, new student recruitment, and current student retention strategies. This semester brought forth a lot of new challenges as we completed our internship fully online and we spent a lot of our time focusing on how to connect with COH students in such a time of isolation. This program allowed me to gain insight on other COH departments as well as the experiences students in those departments have. It was wonderful to collaborate and work alongside students with various backgrounds all connected by the Humanities.

What advice do you have for other students as they search for their internship?

My advice to students searching for internships is to explore your different passions when you have the opportunity to. Coming into this internship, I had an interest in recruitment but I was not sure if it was the path I wanted to follow after graduation. Through this experience, I found that I have a passion for connecting with others and sharing my story and being a COH Ambassador helped bring that passion to light.
