How did your Applied Humanities major coursework help prepare you or give you unique insight for the “real world” of work?
My coursework in Applied Humanities provided a unique professional edge by shifting the focus from how a task is done to why it matters within a human context. While technical training provides the tools, this degree taught me the critical synthesis required to navigate complex organizational cultures and global markets. By studying diverse perspectives and ethical frameworks, I developed a high degree of cross-functional empathy, allowing me to bridge the gap between technical teams and end-users. This background makes me particularly effective at solving "wicked problems," which are those ambiguous challenges that require not just data, but a deep understanding of human behavior, clear communication, and adaptable strategic thinking.
